Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone implants look and feel very similar to natural breasts – that’s why they’re gaining popularity with many women who choose breast augmentation.  Composed of a flexible silicone outer shell, silicone implants are pre-filled with a gel that closely mimics the consistency of female breast tissue.

Who should consider silicone breast implants?

Healthy patients that are at least 22 years old, and have fully developed breasts, may consider augmentation with silicone implants. For slender women, or those with thinner skin, silicone implants are a great choice.

The proper size and shape

Silicone implants come in different sizes and shapes to accommodate different body types and preferences.  Patients can choose implant shapes that are round or anatomical, depending on your preference and body type.  The optimum size is one that meets your desires and realistically matches your body.

Augmentation with silicone implants

Because silicone gel implants come pre-filled, a slightly larger incision is required.  The surgeon makes an incision and creates a space within the breast tissue in which the implant is placed.  It’s then carefully positioned and the incision is closed.
