Juvederm is a smooth gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring, colorless substance in your skin that helps to add volume, protect cells and hydrate the skin. During treatment, Juvederm injectable gel is placed beneath the skin with a fine needle to provide a smooth, natural wrinkle correction.
Indiana Plastic Surgery is a member of Allergan's Partner Privileges program, so patients can earn points when they receive Juvederm® Botox or Latisse®. See our specials page for more information.
Juvederm is FDA-approved for treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is biocompatible and effective for six months or longer. Treatment with Juvederm is suitable for those who exhibit:

Treatment with Juvederm is simple and often requires only 15 minutes. If you are sensitive to injections, be sure to mention it beforehand. Although Juvederm contains lidocaine for added comfort, a dental block or topical anesthetic can sometimes be used to manage discomfort.
After your skin is cleansed, and the injection sites are selected and marked, Dr. Robinson will carefully inject Juvederm beneath the skin at the appropriate depth. He will then briefly massage the treated area to ensure a smooth result.
You can begin to enjoy a rejuvenated appearance almost immediately after treatment, once any swelling or bruising that has occurred has a chance to subside. Indirect application of an ice pack can help reduce swelling in the areas that feel overly full or are visibly swollen. Juvederm provides temporary results, so touch-up appointments are needed to maintain results. Most patients return for treatment within between six months to a year, after the body has metabolized the filler. Fortunately, it is often the case that less product is needed for later treatments.
Be sure that you refrain from alcohol, sun and heat exposure as well as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours following treatment. Watch changes in side-effects and contact your physician if any symptom worsens or lasts longer than one week.
