Your eyes are often one of the first features people notice about you. Drooping upper eyelids, sagging lower eyelids, or dark under-eye circles can prematurely age your appearance.

Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional issues with your eyelids, blepharoplasty (commonly known as eyelid surgery) can help rejuvenate your eye area. This procedure can target the upper lids, lower lids, or both.

You may be a candidate for eyelid surgery if you have excessive, sagging, or wrinkled upper or lower eyelid skin, excess upper eyelid skin that interferes with your vision, puffy patches of fat in the upper or lower lids, and/or a loss of upper eyelid crease.

Eyelid surgery addresses various concerns, including loose or sagging skin that disrupts the eyelid’s natural contour, potentially obstructing vision. It can also address fatty deposits causing puffiness, under-eye bags, drooping lower eyelids, and excess skin with fine wrinkles. The outcome typically yields a more refreshed and youthful look, fostering increased self-confidence. Keep in mind, however, that it cannot eliminate crow’s feet or dark circles.

Before surgery can begin, you may need to undergo a medical evaluation and/or vision test. The incisions are made where the natural crease should be in the upper lids and below the lash line in the lower lids. Dr. Robinson will separate the skin from the underlying fat and muscle. He will then remove the excess fat and trim the skin and muscle. Fine sutures are then placed to close the incisions.

The recovery time for blepharoplasty is approximately 7-10 days. After surgery, your eyes may be lubricated with ointment and a bandage may be applied. As the anesthesia wears off, you may feel tightness in your eyes.
