Arm Lift

An arm lift procedure can tighten loose tissue on your upper arms, providing the confidence you need to wear sleeveless clothing again. Here at Indiana Plastic Surgery, Dr. Robinson offers arm lift surgery, along with a wide variety of procedures for post-weight loss body contouring.

Who’s a Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

In general, a good candidate for arm lift surgery is anyone bothered by a significant amount of loose tissue on the upper arms. This is a very common problem, which typically occurs after body weight fluctuations.

The right candidates for arm lift surgery are:

  • Bothered by upper arm shape and size
  • Healthy, and at a stable body weight
  • Highly motivated to improve appearance

Many people are bothered by loose skin and fat on the upper arms. Some people refer to the problem as “bat wing” arms. If you’re self-conscious about this condition, consider an arm lift Indiana with Dr. Robinson.

Dr. Robinson can help you determine suitability for this procedure during a personal consultation. When you visit our offices in Munster or Valparaiso, Dr. Robinson can answer all of your questions about arm lift surgery. With Dr. Robinson, you can discuss the pre-operative process, the operation and the recovery period. You can also review arm lift photos to get a better idea about the results that can be expected.

How the Arm Lift Works

An arm lift in Indiana will require local or general anesthesia, depending on Dr. Robinson’s recommendations. The first step involves marking the arms to plan for the incisions. The incisions travel from the underarm to the elbow, residing in the inner part of your arm.

After making the incisions, Dr. Robinson removes the loose, hanging arm skin. If necessary, liposuction is also used to slim down any excess fat in the arms. To maintain the new shape and close the incisions, Dr. Robinson will close the incisions using sutures.

What to Expect After Your Arm Lift

When your arm lift is finished, your arms will feel sore and your mobility will be limited. Dr. Robinson will give you specific instructions to follow during recovery. These may include steps to use pain medications, wear compression garments, and keep your arms elevated.

Please call Indiana Plastic Surgery at 219.500.5766 today to schedule your initial consultation. Dr. Robinson will fully review your goals, health, and more to determine if arm lift surgery is right for you.
